THE POWER OF UV PRINTING IN CUSTOM DESIGN

UV (ultraviolet) printing is a digital printing method that uses specialized ultraviolet light to instantly cure ink as it is applied to the material. Unlike traditional methods that require long drying times, this "instant cure" creates a sharp, high-resolution bond that won't smudge or bleed, allowing for complex color patterns and intricate artistic details.

Explore our process and how we ensure your custom graphics are built to last:

How It Works: We use a flatbed UV printer to lay down specialized UV-curable inks directly onto the substrate. As the print head passes over the surface, a UV light follows behind, immediately transforming the liquid ink into a hardened, permanent layer.

The Cast Acrylic Advantage: We exclusively use Cast Acrylic for our custom graphics because it offers superior optical clarity and stronger ink adhesion compared to other grades. Its consistent surface chemistry ensures that even the most vibrant colors stay locked in place from day one.

White Ink Underlays: For designs on clear or dark materials, we can print a dedicated white ink base layer. This makes colors "pop" with incredible vibrancy, ensuring your graphic remains bold and opaque rather than translucent.

FLAWLESS FIT: OUR ADVANCED ENGINEERING METHOD

With a library of over 400 pickguard templates, we likely already have the foundation for your favorite model. However, we know that no two guitars are exactly alike. That is why we don’t just "sell" parts—we engineer them to fit your specific instrument.

Precision Adjustments & Custom Shapes

Every pickguard we produce can be adjusted to meet your precise needs. Using our specialized Grid Calibration Method, we inspect the photo you upload of your original part against our technical grid. This allows us to digitally align and modify our 3D files to account for any unique factory variances or bridge placements, ensuring a flawless fit.

Looking for something truly unique? If you have a completely custom shape in mind, we can design it from scratch for a specialized fee.

Crafted by CNC for Absolute Accuracy

Once your design is perfected, we move to the workbench. We use our high-precision desktop CNC machines to carve your pickguard with industrial accuracy. This process ensures that every bevel is sharp, every screw hole is flush, and the final aesthetic matches the high standards of a professional build.

EDGE FINISHES: PRECISION DETAIL FOR EVERY BUILD

Choosing the right edge finish is the final touch that defines your instrument's character, whether you’re chasing a specific vintage era or a sleek modern aesthetic. At bespokeguitarparts.com, we offer five distinct edge profiles to ensure your custom parts perfectly complement your guitar's design.

Explore our video demonstrations below to see how each finish interacts with different materials:

  • 45-Degree Bevel: The industry standard for layered materials like 3-ply or 5-ply. This classic angle creates a clean, uniform look that highlights the contrasting middle layers.

  • 65-Degree Bevel: A steeper, more vintage-inspired cut. By exposing more of the interior ply, this wider bevel makes the contrasting middle layers much more prominent, capturing a truly authentic retro feel.

  • Rounded (Roundover): Ideal for single-ply materials like bakelite or certain acrylics where a sharp bevel isn't used. This finish takes the sharp edge off, providing a smooth, pleasing curve that is both comfortable for the player and aesthetically soft.

  • Top Edge Bevel: A specialized profile that focuses the angle strictly on the upper surface of the pickguard. This is perfect for those who want a softer transition between the pickguard and the guitar body without a full side bevel.

  • Straight Edge (90-Degree): A simple right-angle finish that is historically accurate for early vintage Fender designs. It is also the go-to choice for metal parts or any material where a standard bevel might not be suitable.

Pro Tip: Not sure which to choose? The 45-degree is our bestseller for modern builds, while the 65-degree is the go-to for that authentic '60s restoration.

PREMIUM MATERIALS:

THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR DESIGN

The material you choose for your pickguard is more than just a protective layer; it's the backdrop that makes your guitar's hardware and finish pop. At bespokeguitarparts.com, we source high-quality plastics and acrylics to ensure every part is durable, stable, and visually striking.

Watch our material showcase videos to see the texture, thickness, and light reflectivity of each option:

  • Cast Acrylic (Custom Graphic Specialist): Our premium cast acrylic is the exclusive material we use for all custom graphics and artistic commissions. Because of its superior clarity and structural stability, it provides the perfect canvas for our high-definition UV-printing. Whether you want a deep, mirror-like gloss or a complex "floating" 3D graphic, cast acrylic offers a high-end, modern look that standard plastics can't match.

  • 3-Ply ABS: The "industry standard" for custom builds. These are constructed from three separate color layers—typically Black/White/Black or White/Black/White—which create that classic "pinstripe" accent around the beveled edge.

  • 5-Ply ABS: A premium, vintage-inspired choice often seen on high-end archtops and historic models. With five alternating layers, this material offers a much bolder edge detail that makes your pickguard a standout feature of the instrument.

  • Single-Ply ABS: A solid, single-color material with no internal layering. This is the go-to for a clean, minimalist aesthetic or for historically accurate early vintage restorations where a simple, non-beveled "bakelite-style" look is required.

Pro Tip: If you’re working with a complex finish, a 3-ply material with a white middle layer is a fantastic way to add a subtle "frame" around your pickguard that defines it against the body.

THE ART OF PRECISION ENGRAVING

Custom engraving allows you to add another layer of personality to your build, whether you want subtle branding or an intricate artistic pattern. At bespokeguitarparts.com, we can engrave any design into any of our available materials.

Versatile Surface Engraving

We offer the flexibility to engrave on either the top or bottom surface of your pickguard.

  • Top Surface Engraving: This creates a tactile feel and a traditional look that stands out against the material’s finish.

  • Bottom Surface Engraving: When applied to clear cast acrylic, engraving on the underside protects the design from player wear while adding a sleek, sophisticated depth.

Enhancing Depth and Dimension

While engraving works on all our materials, certain configurations offer unique visual advantages:

  • 4-Ply and 5-Ply Materials: These are the ideal candidates for engraving. The multi-layered construction allows the engraving to bite through the surface layer and reveal the contrasting colors beneath, creating a bold "pinstripe" effect within your design that matches the beveled edges. [1]

  • Acrylic Bases for 3D Effects: We can use engraving on our cast acrylic bases to create striking 3D relief effects. By layering the engraving or combining it with our custom graphics, we build depth and texture that traditional flat prints simply can't achieve. [1, 2]

  •

Pro Tip: For a truly "floating" aesthetic, try bottom-engraving a pattern on clear cast acrylic. The design will appear suspended within the material, giving your guitar a futuristic, high-end look.
